SAN PEDRO VALLEY PARK

Hike/Park Description:
A friend who lives in Pacifica told us of this park some years back. A few years later we were surprised when the park invited us for a wildflower lecture on Pt. Reyes flowers. Afterwards they suggested we take a botanical tour of their park for another potential lecture. A needed break in late April gave us the perfect time to visit. We were surprised at the lushness compared to most of our East Bay parks and opted for the Hazelnut trail, as it was a good length and it's location made for the best possibility of seeing a representative sampling of what the park had to offer. As we had a little more time, we also took in the shaded Brook Creek and Trout Farm loops trails for a total of about 4.5 miles. One of San Pedro's assets is a constant fog (much to the chagrin of my friend) which keeps the park lush most of the year and makes for a good summer hike when other parks might be too hot.
