ANGEL ISLAND
EAST SIDE

Trail Description: Since the Perimeter Road is 5 miles, and we were only in the mood for a leisurely hike, we opted for the East side that runs past two Garrisons. It begins with wonderful short, but steep view studded climb right out of the landings east side made easier by a hundred or so stairs. Unfortunately the North Garrison was still closed for restoration, and there were few flowers. But the ferry ride over, the views and the ambiance of the island more than made up for the loss.

Trail Location: See the park page for directions.

Our trip began in Vallejo, where dredges were keeping the mud buildup in check.
