Bull Thistle (Cirsium vulgare): Non native thistle going to seed.
Most of the trail is shaded and offers cool respite from warmer weather.
Yellow Hayfield Tarplant (Hemizonia congesta ssp. congesta): They were very numerous in the sunny areas.
The lake occasionally comes into view from among the trees.
Spanish Clover (Lotus Purshianus): Native. Not a true clover but is in the same family as clover.

Sulfur Shelf Fungus (Polyporaceae): Most shelf fungi are found in trees.
Smooth Cat’s Ears (Hypochaeris glabra): Very common non native from Europe.
End of the trail for us, the dam. Shore birds were inhabiting a nearby log, and there is a convenient porta-potty.
