STEBBINS COLD CANYON
Home
Park Description: Stebbins reserve is located about 9 road miles
west of Woodland and is one of the many UC Davis owned environmental
reserves established for public education and research.
It has basically one 4.5 mile loop trail that runs along the lush Cold
Canyon creek, then winds up through dense Manzanita undergrowth for
another mile before coming out to a spectacular alpine ridge trail with
vistas of the whole lake valley. It's worth the sweat. Bring a lunch
and enjoy the view while sitting on one of the many huge glacial boulders.
Directions: From Winters go west on 128
and at about 9.5 miles you will pass over Putah Creek. The trailhead
is a dirt parking area on the right. From San Francisco, take the
Lagoon Valley Rd. exit and go up Wooden Valley to 128. Turn right and Putah
Creek will be about 4.5 miles. Trail head is on the left just before the
Putah Creek bridge.
