Calypso Orchid (Calypso bulbosa): We saw only a few of this early flowering native orchid.

Coast Sanicle (Sanicula laciniata): This native carrot relative likes volcanic soils.
Ground Iris (Iris macrosiphon): They were numerous and range from purple to blue or white.
Young emerging leaves on Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii).
Buckbrush (Ceanothus cuneatus): This native bush was over 6' tall and almost as wide.
Hounds Tongue (Cynoglossum grande): These natives are usually an intense blue but they can fade to this pink.
Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus betuloides): This native bush was 6 ‘ tall and about 4' wide.
Red Henbit (Lamium purpureum): Not native. Very numerous close to the paved roads.
Bedstraw (Gallium aparine): The native flower is only about 1/64 inch across.
Although the Grist Mill has been meticulously reconstructed, electric motors have taken the place of water power.
Slender Phlox (Phlox gracilis): Small native phlox with the flower a little over 1/8" across.
Checker Lily (Fritillaria affinis): This native bulb likes wooded slopes.
Pine Violet (Viola lobata): This was the sole Pine Violet we saw on the whole hike.
Old fences and high grass lend to the bucolic atmosphere.
Dutchman’s Pipe (Aristolochia californica): There were about a dozen of these flowers all together on one vine.
Star Lily (Zigadenus fremontii): A native lily that is very common in coastal scrub and coastal forest.
