Trail/Park Description:
Armstrong Redwoods SNR is located 14 miles north west of Santa Rosa or 3 miles north of Guerneville on SR 116. The park is nestled among high peaks that capture ocean moisture and up to 55 inches of rain per year. This makes a perfect home for the Coast Redwoods and their companions, Douglas firs, Big Leaf maples, oaks, and a variety of ferns. Luckily the old growth area was spared the lumberjacks axe and one can wander among ancient giants up to 300 feet tall on well maintained shady paths. There are a number of trails in the park, but the longer ones mostly go through the drier oak woodlands.
